Tears of Joy

The biggest presentation of the collection of Zachęta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw – “Tears of Joy”, features several dozen works from the last few decades, including the iconic pieces from Polish art history. The audience has the opportunity to see, among others, video installation “The Rite of Spring” by Katarzyna Kozyra, photographs by Aneta Grzeszykowska, Zofia Kulik and Joanna Piotrowska, sculptures by Alina Szapocznikow, Maria Pinińska-Bereś and Olaf Brzeski, as well as video works by Liliana Zeic and Przemek Branas. The exhibition is a story of emotions brought on by the presented pieces in the past and the ones they evoke today. Selected works and their contemporary interpretations, as well as comments by both – the artists and the audience, reflect changes in social sensitivity that have taken place over the years. They also emphasize the important role of contemporary art in the process of regaining voice by the social groups deprived of it systemically. “Tears of Joy” exhibition is open until September 15.
