The Disappearing Mural

A unique work has been created at Plac Europejski in Warsaw and is now available to visitors. The Disappearing Mural was created over the entire area of the largest fountain in Plac Europejski and appears when the artwork comes into contact with water, i.e. when the fountain is turned on or when it rains – a reference to something close to all our thoughts today –  peace in the world.

The project was carried out on the initiative of IMMOFINANZ – the owner of the myhive Warsaw Spire tower and CA Immo – the owner of the two lower buildings of the Warsaw Spire complex. Artists associated with the Galeria Przechodnia art foundation are responsible for implementation of the idea. The official unveiling of the work was accompanied by a musical happening with a performance by the Pogodno group.

Opening of the Disappearing Mural

“It turns out that world peace is not something permanent – this idea was a central theme in the creation of our Disappearing Mural. Until now, such works have been created, among others in Connecticut or Seoul – here, thanks to the use of special nano paints, they have appeared during monsoons and are intended to improve the mood of city residents. We have not heard of such projects being implemented elsewhere – which makes our idea even more unique,” says Przemysław Wardęga, Senior PR & Marketing Manager Poland, IMMOFINANZ.

“The mural is another example of the perfect cooperation between the world of art and business in the Warsaw Spire complex. This unique initiative fits perfectly into the artistic identity of Plac Europejski. After all, art has always accompanied architecture and urban planning. I am convinced that the mural, due to its artistic value and extremely important message, will become a cult point on the map of Warsaw. We are happy to be able to support such important and innovative activities as CA Immo,” says Agata Wołos, Senior Asset Manager, CA Immo.

IMMOFINANZ and CA Immo are companies that care not only for the welfare of tenants in their office buildings, but also for the office environment – by investing in original and interesting projects dedicated to the city. The Galeria Przechodnia Foundation, which is responsible for the project, including the key artistic part, also cooperates with IMMOFINANZ on other projects combining the world of business and art – including Art InSpire exhibitions held periodically in the tower lobby.

“Let’s heal the world and make it better – the text-message surrounding our mural aims to show that art is the weapon of artists. In the present situation in the world, it is one of the ways to protest against evil. We believe that instead of fighting and destroying, it is better to create and paint. We are honored that, as a group of artists associated with Galeria Przechodnia, we are responsible for such a unique and unusual project, said Tomasz Podsiadło, President of the Galeria Przechodnia Foundation. ‘Don’t be afraid of the rain, I am the rain’ also fits perfectly with the theme of the mural. These words are a quotation of one of the songs of the recently deceased outstanding Polish artist, leader of the Pogodno band – Jacek Budynia Szymkiewicz. The mural will additionally commemorate his work,” Podsiadło adds.

“I believe our unique selling point is that we focus on what brings us together. Poland Weekly offers something you will not find anywhere else: a truly international and unifying perspective focused on content that builds cooperation and mutual understanding. This attitude doesn't make us naïve, but it allows us to focus on mutual understanding and a search for solutions. There are so many new challenges that we are all facing, such as energy transformation, climate change and supply chain disruption, to name but a few. By working together and sharing good practices, we can achieve so much more.”
