Most sought-after job candidates has changed

Experienced sales, accounting, RES and sustainability professionals, as well as IT experts, will be able to pick and choose job offers this year, although not all IT specialists will head the list of sought-after candidates.

“While in previous years, when asked which specializations would rule the labor market, headhunters unanimously pointed to software developers, the predictions for 2024 are more varied. However, IT specialists continue to occupy a place at the forefront of sought-after candidates,” according to a survey by Rzeczpospolita, in which the newspaper annually asks representatives of large employment agencies and recruitment companies to indicate the specializations that will enjoy an ’employees’ market’ in 2024 and those in which there will be competition for job offers.

Although 2023 was undoubtedly a less kind year for the IT market than the previous one, this does not change the fact that the tech (ICT) sector is still one of the best-growing and attractive industries, said Elwira Marczak, manager responsible for the technology area at Randstad.

She added that while experienced Java or Python developers will still be in demand, headhunters unanimously list cyber security experts among the most desirable candidates. “Demand for them is growing steadily, far outstripping supply,” said Agnieszka Kolenda, executive director at Hays Poland.

Companies will also seek specialists in artificial intelligence, process automation, cloud computing and devops engineers (combining software development and IT infrastructure maintenance skills), as well as specialists in big data analysis (big data engineers and data scientists), which are increasingly influencing companies’ business decisions, are also expected to be among the most sought-after candidates.
