LOT Polish Airlines Buy 95 Planes

LOT Polish Airlines has contracted 11 new Boeing 737 Max 8 airplanes for 186 passengers from The Boeing Company. The first one is to be delivered in the beginning of May and two others during this summer holidays. Now LOT has 11 such two-engine narrow jets and the delivery of 11 new ones is to be completed by mid-2025.  “Delivery of the first three airplanes will take place this year and delivery of the subsequent eight is at present secure” said LOT President Michał Fijoł. LOT has also sent requests to Embraer and Airbus concerning delivery of 84 new airplanes for its regional lines. According to Fijoł, selection of successful contractor can be expected by the end of 2024.

Now LOT offers direct long-distance flights to US, Canada, China, Japan and South Korea on Boeing 787 Dreamliners. It also has direct connections with many European capitals and has been developing rapidly in the last years. In 2023 it was the 3rd best airline in the world according to AirHelp specialising in passenger claims for flight delays and cancellations. In March 2024 it was the 2nd best punctual line in Europe according to Cirium, world leading aviation analytics company. In 2024 it transported 10.3 million passengers. Its main stockholder (69.3 %) is Poland’s State Treasury and the second one (30.7 %) is Polska Grupa Lotnicza (PGL) owned entirely by the State Treasury.
