Providing customers with the fastest and most reliable connections

Interview with Paweł Paluchowski, CEO of Hawe Telekom.

The telecommunications market is very competitive. How does your company stand out from other entities?

Indeed, the Polish market is quite saturated, but as the example of Hawe Telekom shows, specialization and professionalism enable dynamic growth and success. Our model is quite unique in the country and is based on providing services to other telecommunications entities. We are successively developing our service portfolio, which has earned us the position of one of the leading telecommunications operators in the region. Thanks to our extensive own fiber-optic network, we are a provider of services that meet the needs of the world’s largest customers. Therefore, there is a very high probability that the internet in your home and office is delivered through the use of Hawe Telekom’s infrastructure. Our differentiators are unique routes, international cooperation, but also something I am particularly proud of – the responsiveness of our partners in terms of flexibility and speed. And here I have to put a full stop and mention the amazing Hawe Telekom team. A team full of passion, commitment and ideas. It is thanks to them that we are able to implement new products and services.

Technology in telecommunications is evolving rapidly. What innovations has Hawe Telekom introduced or is planning to introduce to meet the growing expectations of its customers?

By providing the best quality of our services, we are able to grow all the time. In recent years, we have made one of our largest investments, enabling us to provide first-class operator services to global players. We have relied on R&D activities to develop innovative solutions. We have recently implemented a project to build a CDN based on our own EDGE infrastructure and operator traffic exchange points.

In recent years, we have seen the growing importance of 5G technology. What benefits does this bring for Hawe Telekom and for users?

5G technology introduces new opportunities for telecommunications companies and end users. I mentioned CDN earlier, which fits perfectly into this trend. Indeed, 5G and edge computing are two technologies that reinforce each other and work together to benefit both businesses and consumers – as we gain minimal latency, increased bandwidth, security and scalability.

Does Hawe Telekom undertake any initiatives related to social responsibility or environmental protection?

We are successively implementing various social, educational and environmental initiatives. We believe that day by day we are becoming a more conscious, responsible company and thus gaining the trust of our partners. As an operator providing services in both domestic and international markets, we have been closely following the energy transition solutions of partners. The introduction of RES in the power supply of telecommunications infrastructure, collocation points, as well as in all company locations, were important elements adopted in the company’s strategy. We have established R&D and Energy Transformation Departments, which deal with reducing energy costs on a daily basis. As part of our smart colocation containers project, we are installing automatic management of the temperature or air-conditioning system.

What are the biggest challenges the company is currently facing and what strategies are in place to deal with them?

Managing an entity like Hawe Telekom is now about overseeing a flexible, stable company that adapts its business model to the changing market. The fact that we have been on the list of state-protected entities continuously since 2020 is also testament to our position in the telecommunications market. We are making qualitative and structural changes, including the implementation of an Integrated Management System.

What development plans does Hawe Telekom have for the coming years?

At Hawe Telekom, the assumptions of development restructuring are being implemented, in which we have focused on growth, innovation and cost discipline. We are betting on new investments, including many foreign ones, product and service development. We are planning to establish partnerships so that we can look for innovative solutions.

What are your thoughts on the future of the telecommunications industry and how does Hawe Telekom intend to be part of that future?

We believe that telecommunications is the key to the future of the globalized world, and Hawe Telekom is determined to be a leader of this future. With investments from global players, Poland has the opportunity to strengthen its position as the telecommunications hub of Central and Eastern Europe – and this is where we see our future, in digital transformation and new technologies. We will continue to expand our network to provide customers with the fastest and most reliable connections.

This attitude doesn't make us naïve, but it allows us to focus on mutual understanding and a search for solutions. There are so many new challenges that we are all facing, such as energy transformation, climate change and supply chain disruption, to name but a few. By working together and sharing good practices, we can achieve so much more.”
