The Zone of Interest

Rudolf with his wife Hedwig, their four children and a dog, live in a spacious, meticulously clean house with a perfect garden and a greenhouse. They celebrate family dinners, dream of holidays in their beloved Italy and go kayaking or take walks with their friends on weekends. However, disturbing noises and desperate screams often come from behind the walls of their house, because Rudolf Höss is the commandant of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. A Polish co-production shot entirely in Poland, with music by Mica Levi and the cinematography by Oscar-nominated Łukasz Żal (“Cold War”, “Ida”). The Cannes Festival 2023 Grand Prix winner, nominated for an Oscar in five categories, including Best Picture – in theaters on March 8.
