Picasso: A Rebel in Paris

The new documentary about one of the most important and influential artists in history, will have special screenings in selected cinemas starting on September 13. The film was made on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Pablo Picasso’s death and it’s a complex portrait of a talented creator and a difficult man, a testimony of a life fulfilled, yet marked with contradictions. The documentary takes viewers on a journey through years of poverty and insane success, light and darkness, passion and destruction, revelry and political involvement, set in a vibrant and inspiring Paris, which became the artist’s second home. The genius author of over twenty thousand groundbreaking art pieces also had his dark side – the one present in the memories of his partners, which bring a critical look on his biography and remind us that often behind the spectacular successes of great men, stand underestimated and forgotten women. The documentary also gives an opportunity to see the special exhibition organized for the anniversary by the Musée Picasso Paris, with stage design by British fashion designer Paul Smith.
