Rafał Brzoska was born in Zawada Książęca in 1977. At the of 22 he founded Integer.pl company to distribute leaflets, which soon turned into letters and other parcels handled by InPost company established in 2006. One year later it debuted on Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) at zł 17 per share to reach zł 330 five years later thanks to Rafał’s revolutionary ideas.
His breakthrough hit were InPost Parcel Lockers named Paczkomaty, self-service machines for collecting and sending parcels for 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The first ones appeared in September 2009 in Krakow and thanks to their innovative and intuitive solutions soon revolutionized e-commerce to became a characteristic element of many Poland’s cities. Their operations were soon extended by courier service named InPost Kurier.
In 2017 to gain funding for further development InPost withdrew from GPW and 90% of its shares were sold to private equity Advent International Corporation for about $ 40 m with Rafał remaining CEO of Integer Capital Group until this day. Two years later InPost Mobile application was launched for locker remote opening, which is available free of charge in Google Play, App Store and Huawei AppGallery and so far has about 10 million users.
International expansion followed quickly. In July 2021 InPost took over the French logistics giant Mondial Relay for EUR 513 million, which was the largest Polish private foreign investment of that year and enabled entry into the markets of France, Spain, Portugal and Benelux. The same year InPost was introduced to EURONEXT-Amsterdam stock exchange as the biggest debut of a European technology company in the history of the continent. It was also a staggering financial success, as the price offered at EUR 14-16 hit EUR 19 at opening with 175 million shares acquired i.a. by BlackRock, Capital World Investors and GIC Pte.
Last year expansion continued equally well. In October InPost acquired 100% of Menzies Distribution Limited’s Express and Newstrade divisions in the United Kingdom for £60.4 million. “With this strategic acquisition InPost fully insources logistics in the UK. We will be able to create a business designed to win in the UK and serve the B2C market at a faster rate” said Rafał Brzoska. The acquisition was built on the strong commercial growth that InPost has shown in the UK, tripling its revenue in that market over the last year.
Rafał Brzoska is not only a resourceful businessman, but also a great philanthropist believing that charity is one of the basic pillars of modern business. In 2022 he opened his private Rafał Brzoska Foundation to support young, talented and hardworking people on the way to success. The Foundation is running educational and development programmes, especially the Scholarship Fund for young people from 13 to 25 years of age that allows them to study at leading universities all-over the world. “I am deeply convinced that helping is a key element of being human. I believe that appropriate support for conscious, talented and aspiring young people can help them find full fulfilment and change the world for the better” said Rafał Brzoska.
His another initiative is creation of InPost Foundation to support company employees and their families through social engagement, local communities, education for children and adolescents and sports. The foundation helps develop individual passions and acquire new competencies. It is especially focused on employees in difficult situations helping them to carry out their own charitable activities.
Rafał Brzoska became personally involved in helping Ukraine from the first day of the war in 2022. He supported opening of aid and education centre for refugee mothers and children from Ukraine in Warsaw. InPost deployed hundreds of trucks and thousands of employees for the needs of humanitarian transport. As a result, 34-car train reached Kharkiv in the east of Ukraine as the largest ever privately funded transport with humanitarian aid for civilian population. Thanks to involvement of Polish entrepreneurs requested by Rafał Brzoska many products were purchased with discounts and even given for free. Hence the name: the Convoy of Polish Hearts. Similar convoy was sent to Rivne.
Last but not least, InPost is a strong supporter of football. In 2022 it became the strategic sponsor of the Polish Football Association, in 2023 the official partner of Newcastle United (UK) and in August 2024 the official sponsor of Atletico Madrit, which in the last season took 4th place in the Spanish national league La Liga, after Real Madrit, FC Barcelona and Girona. InPost also officially supports a few young athletes as InPost Sports Team.
Now InPost operates 67 logistic centres and 78,000 out-of-home parcel sites, including 43,000 locker machines and 35,000 outlets in shops, located in Poland, UK, France, Italy, Spain and Benelux. Its outlets are also deployed in local courier and postal networks in UAE, Baltic States, Czechia, Slovakia, Germany, Iceland, Columbia, Ireland, Brazil and Australia. In 2023 it handled in total 892 million parcels. Rafał Brzoska explains the driving power behind his brilliant international success in simple words. “I come from a tiny town myself, but my curiosity about the world and people made me wonder as to what is beyond the horizon. Perseverance and hard work have led me to where I am.”
