Strongwomen

The temporary exhibition at the Museum of Krakow takes place over 100 years after the announcement of the decree on voting rights for Polish women and the enactment of the March Constitution, which legally guaranteed those rights. “Strongwomen” is a story of women of Krakow from medieval times to present day, who played a significant role in social, artistic and political life within the city’s space and local community, contributing to bringing change into the status of Polish women at the beginning of the 20th century. The exhibition highlights such strong personalities as, among others, the legendary first female student – Nawojka, the first “Masters of Pharmacy” – the Studziński sisters, actresses Helena Modrzejewska and Antonina Hoffmann, the legendary Zofia Stryjeńska, emancipationists Maria Dulębianka and Kazimeira Bujwid, the pre-war tennis queen Jadwiga Jędrzejowska, or the pre-war “Vogue” and “Harper’s Bazaar” illustrator – Alicja Halicka. “Strongwomen” is available for visitors at the Hipolit House until March 16.
