In Januray 2025 the Polish government adopted a draft Law on financing Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ), state-owned nuclear industry operator, with zł 60 billon ($ 15 billon) from 2025 to 2030. PEJ will receive the funds to prepare and accomplish the investment of construction of the first Polish nuclear power plant in Choczewo Commune at the Baltic seaside. The funding will be provided in the form of equity increase through financial transfers and T-notes. The Choczewo project is estimated at total zł 150b ($ 37b). In September 2023 Westinghouse Electric Company and Bechtel Corporation created a consortium to build the plant with three AP1000 reactors of the world most advanced III+PWR generation to produce 3750 MW since 2040. The consortium agreement also provides for creating the supplies chain with over 500 Polish companies.
