Superyacht Instead of a Resort
A New Dimension of Vacations on the Mediterranean
A vacation on a superyacht is more than just a luxury getaway. It’s private space, independence, and a unique way of traveling through Europe’s most beautiful corners—without crowds, tight schedules, or repetitive views. A superyacht lets you change the scenery every day while maintaining full comfort and freedom that even the best resort cannot provide.
The heart of the global charter market remains the Mediterranean. In the summer, this is where the largest vessels dock, welcoming guests from all over the world. The French and Italian Riviera, the Greek islands, and Croatia combine crystal-clear waters, spectacular landscapes, and a well-developed marina infrastructure. There’s no better setting for a weeklong cruise.
How does a charter work?
Organizing a charter begins with a conversation—about the style of vacation, the preferred region, the number of guests, and the budget. Based on this, yacht rental companies such as Mint Marine propose vessels that best match the client’s requirements: verified and ready to sail on the selected dates.
Even before departure, the crew receives what’s called a preference list—a form filled out by the guests that allows them to prepare every aspect of the cruise: from menus and favorite drinks to the guests’ daily routines. This makes the journey truly personalized—without unnecessary questions but with attention to every detail.
How much does it cost?
A weekly charter of a superyacht starts at around €25,000 net. On top of the base price, an APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance)—a refundable deposit of about 35% of the charter value—is added to cover ongoing costs of the cruise: fuel, food, drinks, port fees, or additional attractions. VAT also applies, with the rate depending on the country where the journey begins.
This price includes modern motor yachts with a full crew, comfortable cabins, water toys, and the possibility of visiting the Mediterranean’s most beautiful spots. Perfect for a weeklong cruise with family or friends.
At the other end of the spectrum are spectacular yachts over 100 meters long—like Flying Fox (136 m) or Kismet (122 m)—whose rental can reach €3 million per week. On board, guests will find beach clubs, wellness zones, a hammam, a movie theater, a pickleball court, a helicopter landing pad, and even a private hair salon. Importantly, on such yachts the size of the crew often exceeds the number of guests. On Flying Fox, the comfort of 22 guests is ensured by a fully professional crew of 55. These are unique vessels, available only to the most demanding clients.
Freedom that makes a difference
Breakfast in Porto Cervo, the afternoon in Calvi on Corsica, and dinner in Saint-Tropez. A superyacht cruise lets you wake up in a different place every day—without packing suitcases, without adjusting to schedules, without limits. The route is set with the captain and adapted to the weather, the season, and the guests’ pace. Everything can change, but nothing has to.
That’s why more and more people return to yachts regularly—not as a one-time adventure, but as the best way to escape everyday life. Because while luxury can be defined in many ways, on a yacht it takes on an entirely new meaning.
What’s the magic of yachting?
It’s often not the size of the vessel or the number of gadgets that leaves the strongest impression, but the moments that can’t be planned: dinner on the upper deck at sunset, a morning swim in a deserted cove before the first coffee, playing with children on a seabob, or the silence that falls at night as the yacht gently rocks at anchor.
These experiences stay with guests for a long time. They are what make a superyacht not just a means of transport, but a place where the best vacations of a lifetime happen.
