Climate Apocalypse Cancelled
It would now be appropriate to announce a “new beginning” and abandon the Green Deal, which of course will not happen, because in the meantime this green business has become surrounded by a whole host of parasites feeding off us – from renewable energy sources lavishly subsidized with public funds, through speculators fattening themselves on emissions trading within the ETS system, to the numerous “environmental” NGOs.
Ladies and Gentlemen, it turns out that the planet is no longer burning – and is unlikely to burn in the foreseeable future. At least that is what would follow from the recent decision of the United Nations climate panel (IPCC).
Namely, it decided to eliminate from its official agenda the three most alarmist scenarios (RCP8.5, SSP5-8.5 and SSP3-7.0) created under the auspices of the World Climate Research Programme.
For example, as Rzeczpospolita recently reported, the rejected RCP8.5 model assumed that „the temperature in 2100 would increase by approximately 4°C compared with the level from 1850–1900, meaning an increase of almost 3°C”.
Meanwhile, it turned out that literally none of these catastrophic visions came true: neither is the global temperature rising, nor are the seas flooding tropical islands or the low-lying coastlines of continents. In short, during the 15 years since the publication of the RCP8.5 model (2011), no dramatic changes have been observed.
Quoted by Rzeczpospolita, the American Enterprise Institute think-tank researcher Roger A. Pielke Jr. even wonders how such a scientific embarrassment could have occurred.
I answer: it could have occurred because someone who was interested in spreading climate panic paid for it. Climate models were therefore deliberately exaggerated so that they would fit a predetermined scenario.
Now climate advocates defend themselves by claiming that such an extreme thesis predicting the destruction of the planet was formulated intentionally in order to make humanity aware of what might await us if we failed to implement any countermeasures.
The point is that despite the entire climate agenda, the setting of CO₂ emission reduction targets, all those Paris Agreements, successive COP summits, Green Deals, and so on, global fossil fuel production has been steadily increasing, just as greenhouse gas emissions have.
The West (especially the European Union) transferred its „dirtiest” industries to China and Southeast Asia, switched to renewable energy sources, closed mines, introduced ETS systems and increasingly restrictive regulations for industry and agriculture… and ended up, with all its climate policies, like Himilsbach with English, while China, India, Australia, Indonesia, and the United States since Trump’s second presidency had no intention whatsoever of submitting to this green madness, but instead kept digging and emitting on a massive scale.
The only moment when CO₂ emissions slowed down was in 2020, at the peak of the COVID pandemic, when nearly the entire global economy came to a standstill. This incidentally shows that the only effective tool for fighting emissions is bringing about a global recession.
When the economy grows, there is simply no way around it – emissions must grow as well.
In 2025, global hard coal consumption reached a record 8.85 billion tons, representing an increase of 0.5 percent compared with 2024.
In 2024 alone, China began construction of coal-fired power plants with a capacity of 94.5 gigawatts, because the red mandarins are realists and know that the laws of physics cannot be cheated – renewable energy sources may exist, but only on condition that they coexist with traditional energy sources that stabilize the system.
The same applies to CO₂ emissions from fossil fuel combustion – in 2025 they reached 38.1 billion tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 1.1 percent.
I am writing about this to demonstrate that the explanations offered by climate advocates mentioned above simply do not hold together – fossil fuel extraction and emissions are rising, and despite that, the apocalyptic climate models have just had to be thrown into the trash.
It is therefore not surprising that Brussels decision-makers, instead of triumphantly declaring victory in the fight against climate change, have fallen silent.
This is because the RCP8.5 model mentioned at the beginning was one of the main foundations for implementing the European Green Deal.
The European Union reduced its emissions by 30 percent compared with 1990 and currently accounts for a mere 7 percent of global emissions (for comparison, China accounts for 30 percent), all while systematically suffocating its own industry and economy – and it turns out that it has ended up as the world’s fool.
In fact, it would now be appropriate to announce a „new beginning” and abandon the Green Deal, which of course will not happen, because in the meantime this green business has become surrounded by a whole host of parasites feeding off us – from renewable energy sources lavishly subsidized with public funds, through speculators fattening themselves on emissions trading within the ETS system, to the numerous „environmental” NGOs.
Therefore, one should not expect the abolition of the ETS, or even a significant reform of this system, just as one should not expect the plans for introducing ETS2 to be shelved.
The EU is merely changing its narrative: the „green transition” is now supposed to guarantee Europe „energy sovereignty”, which sounds particularly amusing given the fact that all these eco-technologies depend on rare earth elements that are neither processed nor mined in the EU.
Moreover, hanging over the whole matter is a powerful, almost religious, ideological canopy, and everyone knows how ideologies work – if the facts do not agree with them, then so much the worse for the facts!
