Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw with new premises

After years of preparation and over 5 years from the start of construction works the new premises of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw finally opened for the audience, accelerating the cultural heartbeat of the capital. The new building is situated in the heart of the city center on Defilad Square along the western side of Marszałkowska Street. The body of the building designed by the New York architecture studio Thomas Phifer and Partners, was inspired by a luminous glass-case and with its almost 20.000 square meters, six floors and monumental staircase, provides natural lighting for galleries on the first and second floor. The exhibition spaces with the scattered sunlight located on the upper floor are additionally lit up by the skylights. All levels open to visitors feature “rooms with a view” with panoramic windows overlooking the city center. The rich opening program of over 100 events will last until November 10 and is an invitation for the audience to together with the artists experience the new building with its height, proportions of rooms, wall texture and light of its architecture.
