The Future of Finance Arrives in Warsaw

The celebration of the CGMA Professional Qualification update continues its global tour—after the United Kingdom and China, it was Poland’s turn. The event took place in the heart of Warsaw, at the modern Central House of Technology.
At the core of the event titled “Future-Ready Finance: The CGMA PQ Update & The Skills of Tomorrow” were themes of transformation, artificial intelligence, and future-ready skills. Gazeta Finansowa served as the media partner.

The Many Roles of AI

Prof. Aleksandra Przegalińska, Vice-Rector for Innovation and AI at Kozminski University and scientific advisor at Campus AI, opened the event with a keynote that invited reflection on how human-AI collaboration influences decision-making. She encouraged attendees to test AI in various roles: mentor, coach, sparring partner, critic, editor, or collaborator—to discover the best ways to leverage its potential.

Next, Stephen Flatman, M.Ed., Vice President of Education and Professional Qualifications, Management Accounting, AICPA & CIMA, presented the details of the CGMA Professional Qualification update. The new syllabus enhances competencies in the areas of business finance partnering, analytical thinking, strategic planning, sustainability, and modern financial technologies—responding to the needs of a changing world. – “This year’s update to the CGMA qualification syllabus sets it apart from traditional finance and accounting education, which still focuses on data processing, internal control, and compliance—areas increasingly subject to automation. Our unique approach, centered around learning through problem-solving and developing critical thinking skills from the very start of the learning journey, empowers finance professionals to make decisions, deliver expertise, and create value for organizations—something essential in the knowledge economy,” said Stephen Flatman.

The Challenges of Tomorrow’s Finance

During the panel discussion “Skills that Drive the Future,” moderated by Jakub Bejnarowicz, Regional Director for Europe, AICPA & CIMA, experts discussed how to prepare for the challenges of tomorrow’s finance. – “In a world defined by artificial intelligence, complexity, and transformation, the finance and accounting profession needs not just new competencies—it needs new ways of thinking. That’s exactly what the CGMA qualification update offers,” emphasized Jakub Bejnarowicz. He highlighted key components such as greater emphasis on strategic business partnering, practical problem-solving and decision-making, communication skills, and the use of technology.

Alongside Stephen Flatman, the panel also featured:

  • Paweł Łopatka – Managing Director, Experis Poland
  • Monika Warmbier – Finance & Performance Lead, Deloitte
  • Karolina Lis – Senior Director
    in Senior Finance, Financial Services,

There’s no denying it—the world is changing at a dizzying pace. And so is finance.
