There’s nothing here

The new exhibition at the Zachęta Project Room in Warsaw by the artistic duo from Lublin – Małgorzata Pawlak and Mikołaj Kowalski, is a fruit of their creative approach towards urban nature. It inspires viewers to seek adventure within the close surroundings, appreciate the wealth of forms taken by the natural environment in the urban world and admire its perseverance and will to survive. Artists are the authors of multiple exhibitions where they presented their individual works in dialogue with each other. “By living together and working as a duo we create a kind of microcosm, where we undertake various artistic and hobby endeavors. (…) Our goal is to understand, even just a little bit more, the world we live in, and to interest our viewers enough, so they stop thinking there’s nothing interesting around them, that everything is boring and mundane, even if it’s just for a while” – explain Malgorzata Pawlak and Mikołaj Kowalski. At the Zachęta Project Room Małgorzata Pawlak presents small, black and white oil paintings on canvas and sculpture, whereas Mikołaj Kowalski – paintings, sculptures and objects from integrated circuits and electronic components, imitating natural phenomena in a micro scale. The exhibition also features the “Don’t Panic” sculpture created by the duo especially for this show. The message from both artists is dominated by the admiration for the world and nature in its entirety, including its mutated forms commonly considered harmful, expanding the concepts of beauty and ecology. “There’s nothing here” is open until April 7, admission free.
