The Warsaw Uprising Mound in the capital’s Czerniaków was created from the rubble of Warsaw after its annihilation during World War II. From the late 40s to the mid 60s it was gradually becoming an artificial hill and afterwards overgrown with vegetation. Today the hill commemorating one of the most important events of international significance in Polish modern history, is a perfect place to quiet down and relax. The Action “Storm” Park conservation was completed last year – the space was organized in accordance with its historical symbolism and enriched with additional greenery, offering visitors a unique beautiful space for rest while taking a tree top walk. The park has been recently awarded the European Prize for the best Urban Public Space 2024 by Centre de Cultura Contemporania de Barcelona.
