DB Schenker is adding an 18th terminal to its network of 17 terminals in Poland. The new facility is an investment worth over PLN 50 million, located in Toruń, at ul. Flight 74 in the Toruń East investment and logistics zone. On a plot of nearly 41,000 sqm, it has a reloading hall with an operating area of over 4,800 sqm and a modern office with social and sanitary facilities for employees and suppliers, which is an additional 660 m2. The terminal is equipped with 54 docks for trucks and a special ramp for clearing snow. In addition, there is an electric car charging station on the premises.
Recent investments in DB Schenker’s infrastructure in Poland have meant the replacement of existing facilities with modern, ecological buildings within a network of 17 terminals. The investment in Toruń is adding another element to this network. Its development by the 18th terminal is associated with the launch of several additional daily connections between Toruń and the most important cities in the country.
“The additional terminal increases the company’s operational capabilities, but also creates opportunities for the development of our clients’ business. We are increasing the frequency of connections in our network even more and shortening the logistic distance between senders and recipients of shipments,” said Przemysław Jastrzębski, Head of DB Schenker branches in Toruń and Bydgoszcz.
“Our terminals in Poland are an important part of the strongest European network of 430 DB Schenker terminals, interconnected by regular car lines. The terminal in Toruń will handle not only the goods of companies from the Kujawy and Mazowsze region, but also the whole of Poland, as well as customers operating on international markets,” said Władysław Kiczak, VP Head of Land Cluster Northeast Europe.
The property is located right next to the Lubicz junction of the A1 motorway. It is located near the main communication routes, with convenient connections in virtually every direction, which affects the efficient and uninterrupted delivery of goods.
Sustainable building
Built in cooperation with Panattoni, the DB Schenker terminal in Toruń ensures the highest quality of service and safe operations both in the hall and on the maneuvering yard. It has been equipped with, for example, an integrated traffic light system including a ramp and docks to enhance safety when unloading or loading shipments.
It is a modern, daylighted building, created in accordance with the principles of ergonomics and in such a way as to have as little impact on the natural environment as possible. It includes water-saving solutions or, for example, energy-saving, automatic LED lighting. The terminal is equipped with a modern BMS (Building Management System) enabling efficient monitoring and management of energy resources. The project was built in accordance with the BREEAM rules and is currently undergoing certification. Not counting the drivers – the company’s suppliers – 53 people will work there.
